Day 1: [DIARIES] 20150111 Day 1 Bangkok - Chatuchak, Nana

Day 5 - 15 Jan 2015

Today is the last day at Bangkok, there's no sightseeing nor food hunting for today. All we want to do today is to shop until we drop!

But that being said, we still need to fuel up before we begin our shopping spree. We headed back to Pratunam morning market as there is more variety and we actually wanna look for the fried fish cake stall again because it was sooooo good.

Unfortunately for us the fries fish cake stall was not opened that day. We ended up getting random food around including those that we missed out during the day before.

Back to Pratunam after our breakfast and we are ready for battle. Came prepared, we brought a trolley bag to fit in all our loot so that we don't need to carry all the heavy bags around and make the shopping experience more enjoyable. Our main battlefield was Platinum Fashion Mall where we had previously earmarked a few stalls to buy. But we also went around Pratunam market and managed to find a few good bargains as well.

... after hours of killing spree...

We finally spent almost every Baht that we had, except for the taxi fare to airport later. We have earlier asked the hotel to pre-book a taxi to airport. I almost swiped my credit card! We passed by this fancy ice cream stall which was manned by a husband and wife, where the husband is obviously a foreigner but the wife is a local. The wife was very talkative and keep persuade us to try the fried ice cream.

It wasn't that cheap we thought of giving it a try to see him in action. He poured the liquid cream onto a freezing pane and started his kung fu chopping and shoveling of the cream until it hardens.

The end result was this fancy looking ice cream with various toppings that melts quickly under the sun.

We also passed by another stall selling different kind of crepes and since we have not had any chance in trying one, we ordered a savory type.

It was really nothing special and I had a hard time trying to finish the whole big piece of crepe. Next time I should just stick to sweet type instead. We head back to hotel after that but do not have enough money and time for another round of massage! :(

After back to the hotel and repack all our loot, it is time for us to say good bye. The taxi came not long afterwards and brought us through the notorious Bangkok traffic jam to the airport. We had our last dinner at the airport McD, trying their Samurai burger but the airport food quality was really bad. We did not really enjoy the dinner.

Finally it is time to board our plane back home. We shall meet again, Bangkok!
